Following my heart I found myself drawn to San Antonio La Nueva Esperanza, a poor Mayan village high in the mountains of Guatemala which has an alarming illiteracy rate - 65% of adults can not read or write.

I am a woman who believes I can make a difference.

I am starting a nonprofit organization called HeartWind. I believe “If you heart is there the wind will take you” My first project Books for the Kids/Libros Para los Niños is dedicated to building a library. The library will serve as a resource for 9,000 people. I have sent the first 800 books. See: booksforthekids.org

My dreams:
• Reveal in book (or movie) form the history of these people
• Promote sustainable income (ie: pottery, textiles or agriculture)
• Expand the library (laptops, books, funds to ship them)
• Fund school scholarships

You never know where you’ll find a piece of your heart, fill your loneliness and find your purpose.

One woman’s spiritual journey is giving a Mayan village their voice.
